ABOUT
About
Lori McCoy is a self-taught acrylic painter based in Henderson, Nevada. She paints the world that hadn’t been washed yet—stories, feelings, and strange truths drawn from the American West she knows. Her work lives in the space where beauty, discomfort, humor, and mystery exist side by side.
I grew up in the American West, where ghost towns, roadside attractions, cowboy shows, abandoned mines, and desert landscapes were part of everyday life. The places and stories that surrounded me were often strange, imperfect, and impossible to forget.
As a child, I learned that beauty could be found in unexpected places. The desert could feel endless and magical. A ghost town could feel alive. A forgotten place could hold a story.
Those experiences became the foundation of my work.
Today, I use paint to build stories and feelings from the people, places, contradictions, and curiosities that shaped me. Whether through the narrative worlds of Strange Americana or the quieter emotional language of Tender Little Things, my work reflects the belief that meaning, beauty, and even a little magic can be found where others might not think to look.
