Lori McCoy began painting without formal training, building her practice through disciplined studio work and experimentation.  She cut her teeth as a child watching her mother paint, spending late nights and early mornings on the floor surrounded by the smell of turpentine and oil paint.

That early exposure shaped her understanding of process, patience and atmosphere long before she developed her own voice.

Working primarily in acrylic, she developed a distinct visual language grounded in surreal environments and controlled composition.  Her paintings place figures inside psychologically charged spaces where color and contrast create tension without relying on literal realism.
